This 100-year-old gramophone underwent a COMPLETE MECHANICAL RESTORATION in 2019 including disassembly and degreasing of all motor parts, re-greasing of the spring barrel, careful balance and alignment of the governor, a rebuild of the Victor No.2 reproducer with new diaphragm and gaskets, etc. It functions as well now as it did when it left the Victor factory in 1922, and is ready for another century of service! Once these Victor machines are rebuilt they run reliably for decades for little-to-no maintenance provided that they are handled with care and kept from extreme temperature changes. The sound from its large horn is loud and clear with no distortion or buzzing. The wooden cabinet is in excellent condition structurally, but certainly shows its age. Some dents, but no cracking or warping. Although its' authentic patina is charming as is, it would be an excellent candidate for refinishing, as the beauty of the wood grain is partially obscured by the dull finish. This is a spring motor gramophone with an internal horn, no electricity involved whatsoever. Suitable for playing acoustic-era shellac 78 rpm records only. Be the only house on your block still able to play records during a power outage! A great way to explore the first era of recorded sound from the 1900s-1930s!
