Reports To: Bookkeeper Job Summary: Assisting the Bookkeeper with day to day processing of keeping accurate records of Cedars financial transactions, monitoring delinquent accounts, preparing monthly statements and financial reports, and being a key liaison with customer questions regarding billing issues. The Accounting Assistant must also contribute to maintaining accurate General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable transactions; including bank and credit card reconciliations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Accounting: Complete patient billing on a weekly basis, working with insureds to resolve payment problems and to ensure a low level aging of accounts receivable. Maintains an accounts receivable ledger and monitors aging for collection and follow up. Updating Administration on progress, as required Receives and reviews all incoming invoices and prepares and mails payment checks, coding invoices accurately to the General Ledger, and keeping payables up to date. Prepares all bank deposits and inter-account bank transfers, as directed by management. Reconciles all cash receipts, bank statements, and other accounts monthly. Reconciles Direct Bill Company statements with automated system reports via automated system. Administers and conducts the Month End Closing Process and accurately prepares Month End Reports for management, maintaining a clean General Ledger. Assists with entering bi weekly payroll, and expenses into third party payroll system. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Performs other accounting responsibilities, as requested or assigned by management. Performs other miscellaneous duties, as assigned or requested by management. Works in conjunction with the Finance Coordinator and other accounting staff in the completion of tasks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Post secondary education, computer processing skills, general accounting and bookkeeping training, record keeping practices and training, or related job experience of greater than two years in a similar position. Proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, Sage (Simply Accounting), Quickbooks and Payworks Payroll Services a plus.
