$1,000 · Antique Hand Carved Chinese Camphor Chest (Kist / Box / Trunk)

Mid 20th century camphor chest - as the manufacturer's plaque says: "Sea Bree brand - for quality real camphor wood moth proof" and you can actually still smell the camphor! Size: approximately 13½" wide x 29" long x 14½" high. This chest has been in use in our family since new and is in very good condition considering its age. It also includes the original (and interesting) Chinese brass lock and key (see photos). Most of these camphor chests have lost their lock and key sets. The brass hinges, clasp and strapping is in perfect condition and the lid, while snug (as it should be) opens and closes as well as the day it was made. Note: There are two slightly damaged sections. A section of beading around the bottom, at the back on the right side, split off many years ago, and a small piece of the inner tray has similarly lost a section on one edge. Neither of these blemishes are noticeably visible when the chest is in situ. Reasonable offers will be considered, lowball offers will be ignored.
