Making our mark on the West Coast, GDI is seeking two heavy duty cleaners to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. Summary of Position: * Dry mops, wet mops (wash/scrub) and polishes hard surface floors. The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with manual or power scrubbing equipment and the polishing is done with handheld or walk behind buffing machines. In large open applications automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions. * Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required. * Transports garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor. * Operate the compactor & clean the compactor at regular intervals. * Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites. * Cleans glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach. * Cleans washroom floors including washing, stripping and finishing. * Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required. * Maintains and carry out preventative maintenance procedures on floor machines, vacuums, automatic scrubbers and buffers and larger self-propelled machines. * Ensure that health & safety policies are always followed, a safety mindset is critical * **The position may or may not include all the above responsibilities Qualifications & Experience: To be qualified as a suitable candidate, you must possess the following: * Building Services Worker certificate * Fluency in English both written and oral is mandatory, and any other languages are an asset. * You are a self-driven individual who works well both independently and in a team atmosphere * Punctual and reliable * Criminal background check GDI offers industry leading compensation and benefits package.
