Position(s): This is a full-time Lead-Hand position working up to forty hours per week within the Landscape Construction division of Thrive Landscapes Ltd. Thrive operates from Qualicum Beach to Parksville & all places in between. Position Description: Working under minimal supervision, the chosen applicant will assist in the completion of landscape construction projects. Applicant will have experience installing walls systems, (Allen bloc, timber etc.), pavers, boarders (Bender Board), form-work, fencing, tree planting, materials grading, laying sod and other construction related skills. Compensation: $23-$28/hr based on relevant skills & experience. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Adhering to proper uniform standards Arriving at work on time and ready and prepared to work Demonstrating a positive disposition Operate various tools and equipment, including cut-off saws, shovels, jackhammers, heavy equipment, drills, etc. Maintaining cleanliness of both job sites and equipment Maintain tools and equipment, conduct inspections, clean and lubricate daily Prepare and maintain up to date work records Ensure safe and efficient crew/work activity (PPE & worksite cleanliness) Willing to participate in other work operations as required Qualifications: Graduate or Current Students of VIU's Landscape Horticulturist - Technician Foundation Program or Equivalent Experience skid-steer & Excavators (One year) Experience with stone, concrete, pavers and walls systems (One Year) Read Landscape Drawings A willingness to learn new skills and develop your abilities You will possess the following: Ability to operate tools and equipment necessary to complete day to day tasks Proven planning, problem solving organizational and interpersonal skills Must be physically fit to perform all job tasks Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License is required Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions In addition to the rate of pay, we offer other attractive incentives: Extended Health Benefits (After probationary period) Excellent training and development opportunities Apprenticeship opportunities for those registered through ITA Clothing and Boot Allowances
