To answer your first question, the batteries aren't dead! Two are new as of Feb this year from Amazon ($60 for 2--3.0 mHa vs. $130 at H Depot) and work great. Three others are older and are fine for smaller jobs. All NiCad. You get:
1 Dual charger--new Feb this year $40
2 NiCad chargers--one is small, handy
2 Skil saws
1 AM / Fm radio
1 Carry bag
If you choose to upgrade to Lithium batteries you'll save $40 on a charger and still have 5 working batteries--two nearly new--so you're saving a $100 and getting a bunch of tools. Ryobi isn't the "best" brand but they are great tools for the non-pro. The One+ system has a massive range of tools, many which you can pick up used. Knock $20 off price if you don't want the radio (I'd keep the small charger and an old battery). Otherwise, sold as package. Prefer email, NO texts. Leave a phone#. Can meet or drop off in Ladysmith, Chemainus or home in Saltair.
