Support Staff Position

Support Staff Position Summary: The primary function of the support staff is to ensure that Edgewood operates in a manner that is consistent with the goals and objectives of the treatment program in coordination with clinical staff during the day and during those periods when the clinical and administrative staff are not on duty. Support staff provide support to patients and nursing staff and facilitate groups. Light housekeeping and computer work are required. Work Schedule: Support staff hours consist of up to 8 hours shifts, to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Hours of work are required 24 hours, 7 days a week, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Support staff receive a ½ hour paid break during a shift of 5 hours or more. Casual on call staff are offered permanent full time opportunities prior to hiring externally. Experience and Qualifications: Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker educational program such as Community Health Worker Program and/or experience in related field an asset. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent diploma. Reported misuse or abuse of mood-altering chemicals for two years prior to application would disqualify an applicant for a period of one year from the date of application. Must be able to read and write and communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Must have good hearing and eyesight. Valid First Aid/CPR Level C. Criminal record check through the Ministry of Justice. Valid Class 5 Drivers License in good standing.
