$750 · SOLD today, May 21: Kickstarter e-Bike (uses a 350 W front wheel)
Mother's Day special price!
I had the bike built for the front wheel. Used Kona HAHANNA (Red) frame, Serial #: F7024972. All new transmission with new Shimano derailleur, new V-brakes, new back wheel with new (almost puncture-proof) Marathon brand tire, new plastic fenders and new rack, ready for panniers. It comes with everything needed for safe riding: high intensity headlight, tail-light, thumb bell and even a good quality keyed cable lock.
Julian & Duncan at Hub City Cycles here in Nanaimo built it. Set up for my 33" (pants in-seam) the seat, (on a spring post) can be lowered 3.5" for shorter legs. No miles on this e-bike project bike, it's all ready to ride!
It also comes with the Samsung S4 phone that uses software that communicates via Bluetooth to the wheel for PAS (peddle assist & regeneration to the battery on the front wheel.
It also comes with spare battery (36 V, 130 Wh ~ 30,000 mAh) for the 350 Watt motor which gives you more than enough power to cruise over the hilliest terrain and about 25-30 miles with PAS or 15 miles (24 Km) on purely electric, usiing the throttle over-ride.
Here is a short video of the e-bike - albeit with the 240W motor - which will give you some insight of what you can expect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zySO8uhwvi4
This is a great entry into e-Bikes and e-biking. This bike can be rode easily without the motor assist as the total extra weight is only 15 pounds. The limiting factor with this e-bike is its range with the battery that plugs in and lives in a well on the front wheel.
Aside from what is displayed smart phone's screen is an active Google map. The throttle body also has 3 lights to that will indicate the level used and therefore how much charge is available left in the battery. The claim is 20+ miles (32 Km) before recharging (2 hrs with the supplied charger).
Add one of one of these batteries from this Vancouver site (ebikebc.com) plugging in instead and increase the range by a factor of 3, 6, 9 or 12 times! Do the math. With one of these batteries after you make the mod you'll be sooo far ahead for an e-bike at this price point!!!
For $750 you just won't get a better price to get you into e-biking!!!
