Water Operator/ utility worker

Kelvin Creek Contracting Ltd. provides facility operations and maintenance for domestic water systems on Southern Vancouver Island. We value our clients and strive to provide top quality service, with safety being paramount. We are currently looking for someone to join our team and assist in operating a Level III Distribution System and new Level III Water Treatment Plant in North Cedar Improvement District. Ideally, the candidate would be Level I Water Distribution or Level I Water Treatment certified (or higher), however we are willing someone with watermain/ utilities construction experience. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and would ideally reside in the Ladysmith/ Cedar/ Nanaimo area. Candidate is in good physical condition, able to lift heavy objects and perform heavy manual labour, as needed. They bring a positive attitude, are able to work individually and as a team, can identify problems, implement solutions and are safety focused. This position will start at 24-32 hours per week at $40-$50 per hour; there will be emergency after hours overtime work paid at 1.5x regular rate. Once the candidate has gained enough experience and training, there will be two weeks per month of on-call duties, paid out at $1600/month BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES Daily Chlorine residual sampling, data collection and maintenance Weekly biological sampling Water distribution/ water treatment troubleshooting and repairs Daily, weekly and monthly inspection and maintenance of water treatment equipment and components Air valve and hydrant maintenance Uni-directional water main flushing Vegetation management Quarterly water meter reading Monitoring Scada Other duties as required HOW TO APPLY Please apply by email with a resume to admin@kelvincreek.co.
