Following on from their success with the Rhythm Traveler set in 2001, Pearl introduced an even more compact set-up called the Rhythm Traveler Gig set. It has been a huge success, and the current version, now called the POD (no idea why they changed the name) is still available. This set dates from about 2005, and is in excellent used condition. The five drums are in a wine red finish an comprise a 16” bass drum on which are mounted the 8”, 10” and 12” toms as well as the 10” snare drum. The toms all have original heads, and still tune up really well, which a much bigger sound than you would expect for their size. The 10” snare drum has a Remo Pinstripe batter head, and has a great attack. The bass drum has a Remo Powerstroke 4 on the batter side, and an Evans Hydraulic front head (although the original ported Pearl front head is also included). As you see in the pictures, the snare and toms all use the included bass drum mounts. The set also comes with the Pearl hi hat stand and bass pedal, plus a cymbal boom arm. Just add your favourite cymbals and you are playing probably the most compact “real” five drum set there on the market perfect for the smallest music room and the tiniest performance stage!
