2021 Victoria Festival of Trees – November 18, 2021 – January 4, 2022

Festival of Trees is a cherished community tradition and has become the unofficial kick-off to the holiday season in Victoria, now entering its 30th anniversary year.

Beginning on November 18th, the Bay Centre will be transformed into a lush forest of beautifully decorated trees to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, all thanks to sponsors, local businesses, organizations and individuals. Guests can bring their loved ones, marvel in the magic of Victoria’s community spirit and vote for their favourite tree.

As we continue to be in challenging times locally and globally, consumers are looking more and more to spend their dollars with companies and organizations that care about the community. Show Victoria your community spirit by voting for your favourite tree and help raise funds for the only hospital in BC dedicated exclusively to caring for sick and injured children.

Visit www.bcchf.ca/fotyyj to donate and vote for your favourite tree!

Belfry Theatre presents Little Red Warrior & His Lawyer – February 1 – 27

A wickedly funny satire about power, procreation, and land claims.

Little Red Warrior is the last remaining member of the Little Red Warrior First Nation. One day he discovers the development company of Smith, Smyth and Goldsmithe has begun construction on his ancestral lands.

In a fit of rage, he attacks one of their engineers, gets arrested and is assigned to Larry, his court-appointed lawyer.

Things turn surprising and farcical—when displaced Red moves in with the lawyer and his wife, Desdemona.  And sometimes—when you invite a coyote into the coop—he may just walk off with your chickens.

Kevin Loring won the 2009 Governor General’s Award for Drama for his play, Where the Blood Mixes (Belfry 2010).
