Employment Opportunity Youth Residential Worker My name is Jennifer Watts and I am an independent contracted foster parent though both MCFD and WJS Canada. I am currently looking to hire 2-3 part time workers to work 24 hour shifts in a residential setting on a contractual basis. It is possible that some 8-hour shifts may be available, but all workers must be willing to work 24-hour shifts. Preference will be given to those that are able to work weekends. The Position This Part Time Youth Residential Worker is a contracted position in which you will be a sub-contractor. Duties include: • Supporting one female youth in her home • Daily logging including regular incident report writing • Communicating with community partners including MCFD and RCMP • General home maintenance including cleaning and repair as needed • Providing structure and routine including following the behavioural support care plan • Engaging youth in healthy activities • Provide emotional support and feedback to youth • Prepare and cook meals • Administer medication to youth in accordance with established policy, protocols, and procedures. • Driving youth to and from appointments/ school • Picking up youth from various locations- Youth is independent but will often ask for rides. Due to her high-risk vulnerability, it is required that workers pick up youth when needed. • Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations such as aggressive behaviour according to Behaviour Safety Plan to ensure no harm comes to the youth and/or the public. I am looking for applicants who have a minimum: • Diploma in a health-related field including Youth Care/ Social Work/ Community Care Worker • One year work experience working with youth and or vulnerable populations • Valid BC Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle that has appropriate insurance • Must have the ability to work independently and as a team player • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates (or ability to obtain within probation period) • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or ability to obtain within probation period) • Physician’s note confirming suitability, including immunization records and a negative tuberculosis screening test Preference given to those who possess: • Due to the needs of the client, female workers are preferred • Previous experience with fetal alcohol syndrome and borderline personality disorder. • Positive behaviour management experience. • Previous experience with operating a licensed home and trauma informed practice • Ability to work weekends • Like or at least tolerate cats (two cats live on premises) Benefits • 300 dollars a day per shift • Travel expenses ($10 per day) • Meals included • Covered under WCB **As a subcontractor, payment is not taxed. It is up to the subcontractor to determine whether the earnings need to be declared** *** Prior to confirmation of employment all applicants must pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry Check.
