$1,300 · 5-ton Truck Driver

Moving On Up Home Solutions Ltd is a well-established transportation company based on Vancouver Island. We specialize in freight services for the federal government. We are seeking an experienced and reliable 5-ton truck driver to transport government mail in the Nanaimo area. Candidates must reside in Nanaimo. This is a full-time, split-shift route that operates Monday - Friday. Candidates must be able to work ALL SHIFTS. Candidates must be able to work weekends and statutory holidays, as required. Shift 1: 02:45 - 07:45 Monday - Friday Shift 2: 15:30 - 17:30 Monday - Friday Shift 3: 07:45 - 09:00 Monday ONLY During peak season (November 1, 2022 - January 15, 2023) an additional Shift 1 will run on Sundays. Wages: Shift 1 - $170.00 (+4% vacation pay) Shift 2 - $80.00 (+4% vacation pay) Shift 3 - $50.00 (+4% vacation pay) Total wages: Monday: $300.00 (+4% vacation pay) Tuesday - Friday: $250.00 (+4% vacation pay) Weekly: $1,300.00 (+4% vacation pay) Duties: •Perform pre-trip inspection of truck. •Drive 5-ton truck (28ft box) and deliver pallets to federal offices in a safe and respectful manner. •Drive safely according to road conditions including snow and heavy rain. •Unload pallets safely using power tailgate lift and manual pallet jack. Qualifications: •Class 5 driver's license (Preference given to candidates with Class 1 or 3 driver's license). •Must have air brake endorsement. •2 years' experience driving 5-ton trucks. •Clean driver's abstract for past 3 years. •MUST be able to obtain federal security clearance (pass background/criminal record checks). •Be in good physical health - must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted and operate power tailgate lift and pallet moving equipment. General Requirements: •Own a cell phone, safety vest, and steel toe shoes. •Work well independently, communicate efficiently, and follow directions. •Blackout period during peak season - November 1, 2022 - January 15, 2023. •This position is extremely time sensitive - timeliness is crucial.
