Purpose of the Role The purpose of this role is to manage areas of internal and external communication, media relations, promotional plans, social media and website maintenance, and publication coordination with outcomes to showcase K’ómoks based on the organizational strategic plan, goals, and objectives. This role will provide direct support to the Chief Administrative Officer in achieving the K’ómoks First Nation’s overall goal of establishing and maintaining a positive public image of the Nation. Key Responsibilities: • Developing and implementing of an annual work plan • Implementing a communications strategy in partnership with the Chief Administrative Officer, including coordinating the development of annual marketing, communication, and social media plans and identifying visibility opportunities • Writing, content development, editing, and managing a variety of communications tools and strategies for each medium (print, social media, press, web, etc.) • Executing communications and marketing for the Nation • Building relations with various levels of government as well as with the business as well as liaising with community members, public, and media relations • community • Social media community management, analysis and reporting • Coordinating internal K’ómoks communications and liaison activities such as: Writing/editing various communication documents for K’ómoks First Nation including providing formatting and writing support to other departments and Chief and Council as • necessary • Gathering, researching, and editing communications materials for external audiences • Coordinating and facilitating K’ómoks events and community meetings from a • communications perspective • Responding to community issues and concerns as related to organizational communications activities • Manage, plan and execute highly visible events for the Nation, it’s staff and community members • Assisting in the preparation of audio-visual material for K’ómoks (i.e. PowerPoint, video, etc.) • Establishing job related information and knowledge management practices, including a • communications database • Preparing (when required) reports, briefs, biographies, speeches, presentations, and • press releases • Coordinating and following up with photographers, designers, and printers • Manage, supervise and mentor communications staff • Oversee and manage expressions of interest for the Nation • Perform other related duties as required Qualifications: • Post-secondary degree in communications and/or marketing • Minimum 5 years experience working in communications and/or marketing • 1+ year exposure to community planning processes and managing staff • Experience working in and with the Indigenous community preferred • Criminal Record Check with a satisfactory result • Computer literate in Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel and Word • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Application Information If this opportunity to work with a growing indigenous organization appeals to you, please apply online with your resume and cover letter here: https://engagedhr.teamtailor.com/jobs/4096032-communications-manager?promotion=993138-trackable-share-link-communications-manager This posting will remain open until filled.
